Honda unveiled the U3-X – the world’s first personal mobility vehicle – at the opening day of the 3rd Philippine International Motor Show on Aug. 19.

Tackling the issue of personal urban mobility and adding a dose of fun and novelty to the event, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) president and general manager Hiroshi Shimizu personally rode on the U3-X to demonstrate the unicycle’s multidirectional capability credited to Honda’s ASIMO research.
Weighing just 22 lbs., the U3-X is equipped with the Honda Omni Traction Drive System, a series of large and small diameter wheels that enable its passenger to move forward, backward, sideways, and diagonally. It operates on a lithium ion battery which, when fully charged, can run up to an hour.
Honda prides itself as the only Euro-4 compliant Japanese car brand in the Philippines. The Philippines has so far adopted only up to Euro-2 level.
